Bespoke

My bespoke process is designed to create truly one-of-a-kind jewelry, specializing in custom hand engraving with intricate relief pattern work and fine stone setting. Every piece begins with a thoughtful design consultation, ensuring every detail is intentional. My goal is to create heirloom-quality pieces that will be cherished and passed down for generations to come.

FAQ

How much does a bespoke piece cost?

Most bespoke pieces start at $5,000 USD. However, engraving costs vary significantly based on depth and detail.

Why do you require a design sheet for bespoke projects?

Every project begins with a design sheet featuring five bespoke designs based on our discussion and your references. This process helps refine all the small details.

  • Design Fee: $200/ non-refundable (includes two revisions).
  • This fee is separate from the cost of your project.
  • Purpose: Ensures clarity on stone placement, engraving details, and overall design so we're aligned before production begins.

🔹 Note: Hand engraving is an intricate, time-consuming process. These sketches are not exact replicas—the true beauty of engraving comes to life in the metal itself. Unlike machine engraving, hand engraving is organic, not perfectly symmetrical or precise.

Can I provide heirloom stones or metal for my bespoke piece?

I prefer to source all stones to ensure they meet my quality standards and align with the design vision. However, there are some exceptions. If you have a stone you'd like to incorporate, please provide all relevant details in your initial bespoke request. I will assess the stone and determine the best path forward.

Stones: Sometimes. I will assess each stone to determine if it can be used.

Metal: I do not accept outside metal for bespoke work, but I do offer trade-in value for scrap gold, which can be applied toward your bespoke project.

🔹 Note: Once you trade in scrap gold, ownership transfers to me. Not all scrap gold is melted down—some may be repurposed, sold, or worn depending on its condition.

What is the wait time for a bespoke OSJ piece?

Bespoke projects are currently on a 12–14 week queue. Rush orders may be available for an additional fee.

How do I find my ring size?

Getting the correct size is crucial, especially for fully engraved rings that cannot be resized.

  • Best Option: Visit my shop in Oceanside for professional sizing.
  • If You’re Not Local: Visit a reputable jeweler for an accurate measurement. Avoid online ring sizers, as they are often inaccurate.
  • Width Matters: Wider rings fit differently than thinner ones, so be sure to size with the appropriate sizer.

How do I care for my bespoke OSJ piece?

Engraving is delicate—treat your jewelry with care.

  • Remove before: Exercising, swimming, housework, or any activity that exposes it to chemicals or impact.
  • Cleaning at Home:
  • Use a soft toothbrush and mild dish soap (like Dawn). Rinse thoroughly and dry completely before storing.
  • Avoid: Harsh chemicals or abrasive scrubbers.
  • Annual Check-Up: Visit Lore Fine Jewelry in Oceanside for a professional cleaning and inspection (recommended yearly).

What are your shipping & return policies?

  • Shipping: All pieces are shipped via FedEx 2nd Day Air with insurance and signature required. $50 shipping & handling fee applies.
  • Returns: Due to the bespoke nature of my work, all sales are final.

What materials do you work with?

I primarily work with 14k and 18k yellow gold.

  • White gold: I can work with 14k white gold, but engraving is more difficult due to its alloy, so an additional fee applies.
  • Platinum: Available upon request.

Do you offer warranties?

I do not offer warranties. However, I provide repair services, stone replacements, and maintenance as needed. These services are available at the customer's expense.

Do you offer appraisals?

Yes, upon request. A digital and hard copy appraisal is available for $250.
